PACK MEETINGS USUALLY didn’t last more than a few hours. With what had been laid out, though, it took the rest of the day. The Vargr seemed troubled, of course, but of a mindset that would meet it head-on. The mates? They caused some of the Vargr worry. They were also the ones with the most questions, and Steffen jotted them down as he listened in.

They had six months or so before the city would begin to be built, meaning the big move and initiation of the City of Unity lay about a year into the future.

How will their need to feed impact and be introduced to pups as...feeding? Will it be expected of mates to feed a Cubi? How to balance Vargr needs to fight and run? Steffen noticed that most questions regarded the feeding patterns, yet Lady Paridin and her girlfriend spent a lot of time talking to them about it.

Others were more practical in nature. Some were downright optimistic inquiries on how all the practical stuff would work, both regarding the Cubi and a territory pack living side-by-side in one city.

Steffen enjoyed those—mainly because they gave rise to contemplating stuff they still had to think about.

Ulla and her mate talked about recycling stuff, getting stuff, whether there should be stores. Since they were a city, would there be money transactions, or was it pack mentality of sharing. The Cubi were apparently a moneyless people, driven by a pack mentality, too. They called it Cu-Boka. And they protected nature and resources as fiercely as the Vargr.

Main road in? If they made stores, would they be open to outsiders? Marketing or no? Regular business or human taxes? Steffen even figured he needed to ask that King some questions or simply let Tristan call a Cubus he was close enough with to call father.

At least the exchange student program had been postponed due to the challenges ahead, giving them all more time to finetune the details and thus, hopefully, have more success.
