“Do you know how good you look in my jacket?” Flames licked up my neck as Luca pulled the zipper of his leathers down, and his smirked in a way that I could only describe as sexy. “I love being able to squeeze you, Clairy.”

“Why do I have a feeling I’m not gunna get the dishes done…?” Shivering when Luca dragged his jacket down my arms, I bit down on my bottom lip, and he huffed a wisp of a laugh. “If this is about this morning, Luca- I just wanted you to feel better. You’re not obl-“

Placing a callused finger to my lips to quiet me, Luca bent to slide an arm under my knees and the other around my back. Cookie’s lapping at her water bowl drowned out of my scope of comprehension as he swept me off my feet, and my need for him coiled in my abdomen. Holding me like I weighed no more than a few feathers, he strode straight-backed and tall across the living room and through the kitchen.

“It’s not about this morning, Clairissa… it’s about every morning we didn’t have.” My breath hitched at the earnestness in Luca’s tone, and he set me ever so gently on his bed to anchor himself over me. Seriousness drenched his expression, and I held my breath as he leaned in close to my face. “Happiness… it can be snatched away so easily. We spent over half our lives away from each other, Clairy, over 15 years- and why? Because I was too afraid to come after you. I’m not letting another minute get eaten up by being afraid.”

“Luca…” Cupping his ticking jaw, I tried to think of something to say only to come up blank, and I blinked back the sting in my eyes. “I am so sorry…”

Crackling harshly, my whisper brightened the twinkles in Luca’s dark eyes, and he rocked on his knees to nuzzle my nose with his. Closing my eyes, I gasped a shuddering, shallow breath, and my lips trembled when his brushed them so faintly. Emotions I hadn’t felt since Luca left for the military clogged my throat, and he seemed to struggle with kissing me firmly.

His harsh breaths rolled down my neck, and Luca’s thighs trembled against mine as we fell into a moment pure stillness. My heart stuttered, and the pillowcase under my head pulled taut before he captured my mouth with a sweetness that melted my very soul. Cupping his neck, I pulled him down and opened my mouth, and his tongue tangled around mine to slather his taste.

Soft whimpers lodged behind the dense lump in my throat, and my knees fell apart in invitation. Luca collapsed atop me, his lips caressing mine so nicely, and my palms glided over his shoulders. His muscles rippled powerfully from behind his shirt, and my fingers tingled as they skirted the collar of his work shirt. Grinding between my quivering thighs, his bulge stoked the fire in my abdomen, and my hands trembled as I fiddled with the buttons.
