he next day was travel day for Camp David. Victoria had gotten

the names of her guests to the Secret Service, and everyone was

Tcleared for the trip. I arrived at the Oval Office a little early to

make sure that I signed all letters and documents that required my

signature.

The protest the day before had drawn a little over a thousand

people, which, for small protests, was quite large. They were a vocal

but cooperative crowd and only one arrest had been made. The suspect

was arrested for threatening my life, a phenomenon which occurred

somewhere in the world on a daily basis and probably more times than

I would care to know.

“Mr. President, the switchboard is holding a call for you,

supposedly from the palace in Riyadh. Someone claiming to be the new

king wants a moment to talk with you,” Mary said, as she stepped into

the office.

“Have them do a call back and verify that it is King Turki, and

then I’ll take the call.”

“Yes, sir.”

I buzzed Alex and asked him to come into the office.

“What did the Saudi ambassador want? Do you know yet?”

“No, sir, I got sidetracked when I left here. Why?”

“We just had a call supposedly from Turki in Riyadh. I told them

to do a verification of the call and then I would take it. Why don’t you

stick around?”
