Chase was in the throes of madness when he felt Baltise’s body go more than slack. His vision cleared enough for him to see the wall in front of him so he looked down. There was tiny blood splatter on her breasts and abdomen. Looking further he saw it was coming from her womb, the last thrust spraying more. In horror, he stopped and climbed off her. Her veins were visible and he knew what that meant.

“No!”

He leaned over and placed a hand on the side of her cheek, trying to get a feel for blood flow. When there was none, he panicked. It all came flooding back to him. How he had nearly drained her before he left for the commons and all the blood loss from the unsanctioned battle in the hallway. Her soft reply that she was hungry and he had indeed left her that way without thinking.

Grabbing a sweatshirt and clean pants, he yanked open the door and fled back to the cafeteria. Luckily no one else was around but knew the stench of blood on him was strong. No doubt, if anyone entered the hallway there would be trouble. Reaching his destination, he grabbed two large chunks of raw meat and as much fruit as he could carry then raced back. The faculty in charge didn’t have time to protest, he was in and out so fast.

He created a blockade against the door using the desk as a barricade. The meat he tore up into smaller bits and forced some of it in Baltise’s mouth along with pieces of fruit. At first nothing happened and he feared the worst, if he had to give her some of his own blood that was fine but she was so far gone that it wouldn’t be enough.

“Please.”

I need you!

His telepathic message was loud even to himself and he was amazed at it desperation.

A slurping, gnawing sound came from her lips and hearing the portions being consumed he felt relief. He immediately prepared more, giving her a little at a time until halfway through, her eyes red as the blood in her veins opened. It slowly subsided as the food neared its depletion.

“I’m so sorry,” he whispered.

Leaning over her he laid down on top of her and buried his head in her bosom. He felt her small fingers linger in his hair for a moment before flopping back down beside her. She was fast asleep. Looking up he saw the early signs of dawn and closed the shutters. He sat up and really took in all the blood. There was no way he could let her sleep in such filth.

Barely able to keep his own eyes open, he went to the bathroom and wet a handful of rags. He wiped her down and pulled the drenched sheets off the bed. As he stripped off his clothes he saw the bloody patch of pubic hair and red dots on his thighs and scrubbed them hard with one of the wet rags.
