KISS YOUR DAUGHTER

We hold our phones closer than we hold our children

The souls sucked from our very bodies

while we hide our faces behind the bright lights of the television

The trees are lonely and the valleys, deserted

Mother nature sheds a tear and father time is forgotten

in the scene of obscurity

From the Earth, we were created

Brought up from a spec of dust

The waters and fields given to us as a gift

The single blades of grass that blow in the wind

and every bird that soars through the eternity of the endless sky

They don’t matter to us because we have

the world at our fingertips

It consists of appointments and the newest apps

They tell us when to get up and what to do

Our worlds speak back to us and track us

while leading us away from reality

A distraction from the world we are meant to be present in

Instead, we are absorbed into a matrix of circuits.

In the beginning, the breath of life soared through our lungs

And what do we do with it? Put it to waste?

All this beauty ignored by our distracted minds

All the hidden unknown waiting to be found

The Earth is fully populated but so empty

Covered by a blanket of deception and subliminal messages

Pushed away by the power we can hold in our hands

A power so small, yet in our head it's necessary

to carry it with us wherever we go and if we don’t

we break down and lose control

of our bodies

of our minds

system failure

spiraling into an uncontrollable black hole.

And all for what?

So we let mother nature and father time go to waste

in front of our eyes.

Stop, put it down, and kiss your daughter

Go outside.
