Chapter 11

MR. GRUMPY BILLIONAIRE

CASSIE

A shiver runs down my spine and I pull my bottom lip between my teeth. I wasn't planning on getting all hot and bothered, but Theo brings it out in me.

Clearly.

The way he yanked his tie and those forearms.

I squirm in my seat as I stare the man down. He doesn’t wear his signature grumpy face. No, right now he’s donning a sexy smirk at my mention of our hot as hell sex last week. I want to recreate the night, but we have to talk first. I’m not looking for a hookup. I want something that will last. And I’m pretty sure we aren’t on the same page here.

The thought is enough to break me out of this sexy-lust-haze, so I glance down at my closed tablet and decide if I’m going to put my big girl panties on and ask to have a conversation, or if I’m gonna head home unfulfilled.

“Well, if wedding talk is over, then I should go,” I tell him, plastering a smile on my face.

“Have you eaten?” Theo interjects.

“No,” I reply, glancing up at him. He drums his figures against the counter, his smirk now gone, and I’m not positive, but he looks frazzled that I’m leaving.

“Stay longer, chat, eat.”

I’m nodding before I decide, but his answering smile turns me into goo.

“What do you want to eat? We can order something, or I can see what I can make.” He motions to the fridge.

“Oh, do you cook?” I watch him as he moves around the kitchen and pulls open the fridge again.

“Not exactly. I can’t make anything spectacular, to be honest. I can cook for myself when needed. I like to grill, but mostly, I order out,” he says over his shoulder as he lets the fridge door shut and he yanks open the freezer next. “I’ve got a cheese stuffed pizza.” He slides out a square cardboard box and wiggles it in the air. He pulls at his collar with his free hand and his cheeks turn slightly pink.

“How did you know I have a thing for frozen pizza?” I grin.

“You do not.”

I shake my head. “I really do. I always have at least three in my freezer at all times.”

His eyes narrow as he steps away from the freezer.

“Believe me, Theo.” I laugh. “Do I think it’s funny Mr. Grumpy Billionaire stocks frozen pizza? Absolutely, but I’m not judging you for it.”

He sighs. “I’m not a billionaire,” he mutters.

I grin even wider. “I figured you’d have a cook or something.” The bear is fun to poke.

“I did, for a while, but my schedule was so crazy that the lady I hired didn’t appreciate having to reheat her food because I wasn’t home to eat it.”

I nod in agreement, as if I would understand. “How often do you eat frozen pizza?” I ask while I watch him preheat the oven. Everything in his kitchen is stainless steel and high quality and while I’m not a big cook, I dabble, and having the space to cook makes me wish I didn’t live in a condo downtown.
