Tim and I drive over to Middle Tennessee again to pick up Anna and Ailbe so that Anna doesn’t have to drive to Memphis for the memorial service. Death seems to have a lot to do with logistics, I think. Moving from point A to point B.

This is too difficult, I tell myself, and yet I’m determined to make the trip anyway.

Before leaving, I spend some time cleaning and picking up in Kieran’s bedroom since this is where Anna and Ailbe will be staying while they’re here.

The task isn’t nearly as daunting as it otherwise might have been since Kieran had long since removed most of the contents—or at least most of what was important to him.
