“You slept.” Sophie grinned at Henry as he wandered into the kitchen, looking sleepy-sexy in only a pair of khaki shorts and a t-shirt slung over one shoulder. Although incredulous, she also felt wonderful, if a tiny bit achy from the night they’d spent in her bed. This whole summer romance thing was definitely nothing to be scared of—so far, it was marvelous.

“No thanks to you, you wanton creature.” Henry tugged her into his arms to kiss her thoroughly. “I do have to admit, last night was a record.”

“Didn’t I tell you we’d have fun, Dugan?” She ran a hand over his soft goatee and then his stubbly cheek. “However, if we plan to make this a regular thing, I am going to have to insist you shave sometime soon. Not the beard, I love it. But the rest? Look.” She pulled open the neckline of her short robe to show him a rash on the top of her breasts. “This is not going to cut it.”

“Oh, damn.” He ran a finger over her reddened flesh. “Did I do that? I’m so sorry. I guess I should’ve shaved last night before I showed up at your bedroom door.” Leaning down, he pressed his lips to the spot. “You drive me crazy, Russo. What can I say?” His hands slipped inside the robe. Cupping one breast, he let his thumb brush the peak. “I’m betting this isn’t the only place I’ll find it—why don’t I just do a quick exam...”

A shiver coursed through her as he let his tongue travel from the top of her breast down to her nipple. Then he untied the robe.

“Henry.” Inching back, she gave a quiet moan. The memory of the last time they’d come together in the wee hours of the morning, of him sliding into her, slow and sexy, made her reluctant to pull away too quickly. Making love with him had been more delicious than she’d ever imagined. A tiny voice niggled at the back of her mind, reminding her that it was purely sex with no strings and no obligations, but she ignored it. She’d wanted him and now, she had him. The how and why of it was immaterial. Right now, she only wanted to bask in the pleasure part.

“Hey, I’ve had—” He glanced up at the clock on the microwave. “—two and half hours of sleep. I’m good to go again.” Pulling her back to him, grasping her backside, he proved it by pressing his pelvis against her.

Sophie sighed in mock despair and kissed him. “Let me go. You depraved writers are all alike. Sex, sex, nothing but sex. I’ve got coffee here, and I’m going to make breakfast. We need sustenance.”

“You are my sustenance, Sophie-fair,” Henry teased, nibbling her shoulder before she covered it back up and stepped back from his arms.

“You are so full of it.” Giggling, she poured coffee into two thick mugs.

Dear God, I’m giggling. This man is driving me completely insane.

“We should probably eat, I guess.
