The Woodland Gardens

Separate from the main gardens, Bowood’s Woodland Gardens are only open for six weeks during flowering season. They surround the family mausoleum, a classical building designed in 1761 by Robert Adam, and feature a dazzling display of brightly coloured rhododendrons and other plants, some of which were planted by the 3rd Marquis of Lansdowne back in 1854.
Calne
CALNE is most celebrated for the Wiltshire cure, a method of curing ham and bacon that was invented here by the Harris family in the eighteenth century. Today this small town is worth a visit chiefly for its wonderful motor museum, as well as being the jumping off point for Bowood, just 4 miles away.
