3 On 30 November 1982, the director of the law division the Swedish foreign office Hans Danelius lunched in New York with his Danish colleague, who intimated (presumably with government blessing) that Denmark was interested in new negotiations. A written report, including Danelius's lack of response, was given to the Danish ministry. Danelius explained, once it had become a hot issue, that because of the informality he had seen no reason to write a report (DN, 7 August 1983, p.3).

4 Politiken (1 August, 1983) had already seen this as embarrassing, Denmark invoking the same convention on Swedish nuclear power.
