Chapter 20
* * *
Gray
I didn’t want to fucking disappoint her.
Halfway to my apartment, I started to realize I needed to grab a quick shower for a few minutes of privacy when I got home. My cock was straining for release just sitting in the back of the cab and holding her hand. There was no fucking way I was going to be able to satisfy her like this. My performance would rival a teenage boy’s shitty first time. I’d be lucky if I didn’t come in my own hand trying to get my dick out of my pants.
I kept my distance, not wanting things to heat up only to be forced to extricate myself to cool down. In the elevator, I put my hands in my pockets to keep from touching her. She stood so close, smelling like fucking heaven, and the thought of pressing her up against the glass in the tiny car was unbearable. I wanted her to look in the mirror and watch her reflection when I rammed into her from behind.
But once we were inside my apartment, avoiding her became a challenge. Freckles met us at the door and ignored me in favor of licking Layla. Smart dog.
I thought the distraction might be the perfect excuse to slip away for a few minutes. “I’m going to grab a quick shower.”
Layla stood and grabbed the lapels of my jacket. “You want some company?”
Fuck.
Maybe if I got my dick good and sudsy, she wouldn’t notice that I shot my load before she even touched me.
I dragged my fingers through my hair. “On second thought, how about some wine?”
“Umm. Sure. Wine sounds good.” Layla walked to the open windows in the adjoining living room to look at the view. It was a clear night, and the city was lit up through the darkness.
I took my time opening a bottle of her favorite and pouring two glasses. Passing one to her as I joined her at the windows, another bright idea hit me. If I could knock back a few drinks, it might slow my libido a bit.
I swallowed half a glass and untied my bow tie, leaving it hanging loose around my neck. I tried to avoid looking at the gorgeous woman standing next to me, but couldn’t help myself.
God, why does her collarbone have to look like that? That neck… I wanted to bite it in the worst fucking way.
Without even realizing, I finished off the other half of my wine. But Layla realized. She glanced at the empty glass in my hand, still holding the one she hadn’t sipped yet.
“Is something wrong, Gray?”
She turned to face me, and the glow from the moon cast light across her face. She looked like an angel—one I wanted to do evil things to. I shoved my hands into my pockets again for safekeeping, and almost forgot she’d even asked a question.
“No. Everything’s good.”
She squinted.
Goddamn it. “Fine.” I shook my head and let out a loud rush of air. “I haven’t been with a woman in a very long time.
