[When this set was first released, it, and its manual sequence companion listed directly above, contained the following justifiably proud words by Columbia, “This album, which is coincidental with the advent of Columbia’s new LP Long Playing Microgroove Records, marks a radical departure in the history of recorded opera. For in it, you will find Puccini’s La Bohême [sic], superbly recorded in its brilliant entirety by distinguished artists of the Metropolitan Opera, on two records instead of the conventional thirteen which a work of this size ordinarily demands for its reproduction. With this epochal set, therefore, is realized a long-cherished dream of music-lovers. Through Columbia’s LP Records, you may now hear your favorite opera, performed with magnificent fidelity by celebrated artists—complete acts—scenes in their colorful entirety—unmarred by the annoyance of excessive record changing.” When a slightly revised edition of this recording with new cover art was released in 1951 under the same number, the paragraph quoted above was omitted.
