The next few weeks flew by, Melanie working with her insurance company and Magic on the hunt for the arsonist. Blue had done as asked, retrieving everything Magic had stashed in the barn. Magic had sales for most of his contraband but planned to hold onto half a kilo of Cocaine for personal use. Melanie was aware and had only given him a small amount of grief about him using. He really didn’t use much, just a line every now and again. Spider was the one who did rails of coke but Magic kept him on a leash. Coke was acceptable but the meth was a big hell no. Magic told each brother he wasn’t a camp counselor so if they got involved with methamphetamine, he would make them dig their own hole. They all knew it was for their corpse so none of them messed with it. Magic sold it to the Aryans but never once used that.

Melanie had rented office space in town and set up shop. She was just a general practitioner but most people didn’t need a specialist. Magic wasn’t happy she was in town but that’s where she could do the most good. There were too many people in need that couldn’t afford medical care so Melanie worked cheap or even free when she knew they couldn’t pay.

The Coalition had gotten involved in the Sinners’ business, stating the fire had the local police focusing on Magic and his crew. Magic was livid, hating having his decisions questioned. It had taken two weeks and three meetings to get them to back off and let him handle it. The Coalition had left two of their officers in town to keep watch but it was better than them all. The president of the coalition was a giant pain in the ass and if he called you to a one on one meeting, you’d probably leave in a pine box. They called him Big Bear for a reason.

Magic watched the office where Mel had set up shop. If she knew he was having her watched he would have a whole lot of problems so he stayed out of sight. When he wasn’t there, he had Havoc keeping an eye on her.

Melanie had a feeling one of the guys was close but she didn’t say anything, just took care of her patients. She was waiting on the last one of the day when the door chimed and a woman with blonde hair walked in. She was about thirty, give or take and in great shape. Mel greeted her at the door.

“Hi, welcome. I’m Melanie and I’m the doctor. What can I do for you today?” The woman looked shocked, like she wasn’t expecting a female doctor.

“Um hi, I’m uh…Sherry.” Melanie watched her as she looked around, wondering what had her spooked.

“It’s all okay, we're alone. I don’t have any staff yet. Tell me what seems to be the problem and I’ll do my best to help.” They went into the exam room so Melanie could do her job.
