There’s a smile on my face when I wake up. I sit up and realize I’m in my bed, and Ruby is naked and pressed against me. Our limbs are tangled together. I slip out of bed. I’ve never slept next to a woman after sex before. And I don’t know what came over me. She fell asleep in about five minutes, and I laid there feeling a peace I haven’t felt in a long time. I didn’t want to move, and I ended up sleeping like the dead. It’s early morning, and I can’t think of the last time I slept through the night.

I stand up and grab some jeans from my closet and a shirt from my dresser. Instead of wanting to run away like I always do after sex. I want to do the strangest thing of all, make us fucking breakfast, then stay in bed all day, discovering how to make her scream like she did last night over and over again.

I shake my head and leave the room. The entire room smells like sex and Ruby. I’m hard again, like I’ve been every day since she fell into my life. I feel like the walls are closing in, and I’ve got to clear my mind to do the shit I have to do. Xavier might be in my city. The intel about where he landed was wrong, or a trap, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t here.

Moving out of the room quickly, I put distance between us so I can get my head on straight. I can’t give into whatever bullshit is clouding my judgment right now. I just needed to get laid. It had been a long time. That’s all this is. Mission accomplished.

Fucking her didn’t change who she is or who I am.

Hopefully, I can get my head out of her ass now.

And now all I’m thinking about is my head in her ass.

Fuck.

I walk into the kitchen and try to sort my shit out while I start the coffee. The sticky mess the bubbles left behind is still all over the floor and instead of being pissed, I’m smiling. I get the floor cleaner out and mop the residue off, moving methodically over the tiles. Somehow, the noise inside my head quiets down as I go through the motions.

I stare at the place I fucked her on the kitchen island.

‘Fucking own me then.’

I don’t even know how it happened last night. One minute, I was pissed as hell about Connor and Xavier. Then I saw she exploded the kitchen with bubbles, and I was so mad I burst in on her in the shower. Not even thinking. Next thing I knew, she was naked, dripping wet and looking at me like she needed my cock more than oxygen. And I needed to give it to her.

She took control in the shower, and I never let women do that. But when she finally yielded to me, it was that much sweeter. I want to do it again.
