In the 1700s, Englishwomen wrote men’s names on scraps of paper and rolled each piece in clay. They dropped the pieces of clay into water. The first paper that rose to the surface, supposedly bore the name of a woman’s true love.

USA Sun Visor

Materials: paper plate

blue and white construction paper

scissors

glue

red crayon

Directions: Cut the center out of the paper plate, leaving the rim intact. Color one side of the rim with the red crayon. Now, cut a visor shape from the blue construction paper and glue it to the rim. Cut star shapes from the white construction paper and glue them onto the blue visor. Patriotic and practical!
