Comfort & Chaos
Brooks was crawling out of his skin on the ride to her house. The line of questions had certainly put a damper on the evening but also lifted a weight. Being that open with someone was uncharted territory for him, but it felt good . . . except when it didnât.
Brooks wanted to tell her everything. How this dick named Sky, along with the Enforcers, set him up. How theyâd been as close as could be until that fucking gang got their hooks in him and started feeding him drugs. Then his best friend set him up on purpose to take the fall for a club job at the command of their president, a wannabe cocksucker named Snake.
Brooks didnât give two shits about Snake. Well, that was a bit of an understatement. He hated the guy. But Snake didnât know him from Adam. Snake wasnât the one who called him that night, begging for help. That was all fucking Sky. Heâd been tasked with bringing in a fall guy to earn his patch and his road name, and Sky delivered Brooks.
He never found out his road name, didnât give a shit. Wait, Granite had mentioned it, and Taps had joked about it, but Iâd been too distracted to commit it to memory. It didnât matter what name he went by; he was still a fucking cunt who turned on the one person who gave a shit about him and for what? A so-called brotherhood. Sky had thought what theyâd had was a brotherhood. What Granite had with the Phantoms was a brotherhood, the Enforcers were nothing like that.
The piece of paper from the Phantoms was still in his vest pocket exactly where heâd put when the man had slid it across the ornate table to him. He didnât want to look at it yet because once he did, there was no going back.
As soon as he knew where to find the fucker and what he was calling himself these days, Brooksâs existence would change.
He brought his left hand to the arms wrapped around his stomach. This would be over. He wanted this time with Billie damn near more than he wanted to breathe. It wasnât a line when he said he wanted to know her; he did. Something about her just resonated with his soul. It wasnât just because she was the first person heâd fucked in over ten years.
Thatâs what heâd tried to tell himself at first. But when the chick at the Phantomsâ clubhouse had touched him, it did nothing. Him, fresh out of lockup after a fucking decade. When heâd laid eyes on Billie, and his body sprang to life, he was convinced that a light summer breeze would do the same.
He wasnât too proud to admit how wrong he was. It was all her.
Then tonight, while the waitress did nothing for him and just Billieâs smile stroked his cock, he started connecting dots. Yeah, apparently, he could be brought to heel by a good fuck in a back office with a woman who had a beautiful soul he hadnât even known a week.
