Chapter Seven

They weren’t done by a long shot. Ethan wasn’t nearly satisfied until he had Kadan inside of him two more times, and they were both exhausted and falling into bed by the end of it.

Even though he’d been drowsy by the end of it, he couldn’t help but giggle over the fact that he’d had so much sex, that he’d liked it, and none of it had taken place on the sheets.

When they both woke up a couple of hours later, they did get to have sex again on the bed that Ethan was quickly starting to think of as belonging to the both of them, and it was slow and gentle, but his orgasm was strong thanks to the patient buildup that Kadan worked them both to.

After that, it was a lot of snuggling and kissing. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy in my entire life,” Ethan admitted.

Kadan took him by the hand and kissed his knuckles. “There’s something I have to tell you, and it may very well ruin your happiness.”

Ethan wasn’t sure anything could ruin his happiness in that moment, but he wanted to put Kadan’s fears to rest. “If it’s something you’re not ready to tell me, then you don’t have to. We can wait,” he said.

“No, it’s something you have to know right now,” Kadan replied. “I should have told you before claiming you, but it’s too late for that now, so I don’t want any more time to pass before this comes out.”

Ethan thought he understood where this was going. “Is it about your father?”

Kadan looked as though Ethan had just punched him, which was almost funny because Ethan would never dare to do something like that.

“What do you know about that?” Kadan asked. He tried to keep his voice gruff and uncaring, but Ethan could see through it.

“Some of the other alphas talk,” Ethan said. Luis and Henry had been among them, but Ethan didn’t think any good could come from naming names. “I overheard your dad attacked your mom in front of you, and that you might have wild tendencies now because of that.”

Ethan hoped that he’d been gentle enough when he admitted to knowing that, but Kadan still pursed his lips. “He was a worthless prick,” he said, and there was a lot of bitterness and hate in his voice. “I don’t even know what caused it. I think he just snapped one day. He hated where he was in his life, hated that his mate was constantly nagging him about unpaid bills, and he hated that he had another mouth to feed when I came along.”

“He shouldn’t have done what he did in front of you. That wasn’t your fault,” Ethan said.

“I was thirteen, I was old enough that I could’ve fought him off of her, but instead, when her blood splashed on me, and I tasted it in my mouth, I ran away. She was still alive and screaming behind me, and I ran away. I’m sorry, I know this is all graphic and not very romantic.
