“My wolf doesn’t agree.” I shook Nikolas’ hand away and took it in mine. “For the record, Silver? I will remember this and every other time you have talked down to me. Do not think that I’m not keeping a tab or that I won’t collect.”

Nikolas and I left Silver standing in the kitchen. Once we were down the hall a little way, Nikolas laughed. “I thought you liked him.”

“I do.”

“Then why the posturing?”

“Because I hate being talked to like I’m a fucking child!” I let go of Nikolas’ hand. “And he’s had a fucking hard-on for getting me in trouble ever since I ditched my detail the first time.”

“I hate to break the news to you,” he whispered and leaned closer, “but you sound like a child.”

I flipped him off and started to walk away.

“Oh, now, don’t be like that, princess.”

I kept walking, still flipping him off.

“Is that an offer?”

I paused and grinned back at him. “I need to stop off in Lucien’s room first if he’s not there.”

Nikolas caught up to me, and when we arrived at Lucien’s bedroom, I was relieved to find that he wasn’t there. I went to the closet and found a few of my favorite things that Adam hadn’t picked up yet. It was difficult to sort through some of the clothes because Lucien and I shared them.

Nikolas lounged on the bed as if he owned it, and every time I put something in the pile, he’d pull me down for a kiss. We were in the middle of a long, groping kiss when the door opened and Lucien walked in.

His power exploded in the room and I rested my forehead against Nikolas’, afraid of what would happen if I was to turn around. I was sure that Lucien would never intentionally hurt me, but the way his jealousy had turned, I might get bit in the crossfire.

“It is bad enough that you parade your relationship around in front of me and the rest of the coven, but you have to bring him to my room? To my bed?”

I couldn’t look at him. “I was just getting a few things, Lucien.”

“Same thing you’ve been getting for a while now.”

“Oh, he did not just go there.” Nikolas growled and pushed me away gently, then stood to face Lucien. “You do not get to throw insults and insinuations his way when you yourself have been fucking my lover, when you have marked him as your own.”
