In fact, the Zodiacâs ego was so large that when the police got details of his crimes wrong, he would get upset and write them scolding letters.
But thereâs something else in the Zodiacâs handwriting that tells his tale. Look carefully again at the note. Many of the individual letters lean far to the right. But one letter in particular falls drastically rightward. Which letter is it?
If you guessed the letter d, give yourself a gold star.
This writerâs hand suddenly collapsed to the right as he wrote the letter d, forming a stroke known as the dreaded âdiabolical d. â When the lower case d leans far to right, relative to the rest of a writerâs script, itâs a sign of someone who is unpredictable and prone to extreme emotional outbursts. Writers with diabolical dâs in their script may want others to see them as big shots but they actually have fragile egos and can easily become defensive. They may be able to control their tempers for a while, but you can never know when theyâll trip upâlike their collapsed dâsâand fall off the deep end.
As mysteriously and suddenly as they had started, the string of Zodiac murders that terrified Northern California stopped. The Zodiac killer has never been identified or apprehended.
Water Pistol or Nuclear Missile?
Take out the handwriting sample that you wrote at the beginning of the chapter (âIf Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, how many pickled peppers did Peter Piper pick?â)
Letâs look at your i dots. If you made your dots plain, light, and rounded, usually you can keep your temper in check. However, if your dots are slashed and dashed, then you can get mighty irritable. And if you made your i dots or punctuation marks excessively heavy and ground-in, you are obsessive, tense, and resentful, and can lose your temper at the drop of a hat.
