ANGER MANAGEMENT SCRIPT

I will make myself as comfortable as I can …… take a nice deep breath …… close my eyes and begin to relax ….. just thinking about relaxing every muscle in my body …… as I begin to focus attention on my breathing …..my awareness of everything around me will decrease ….. feeling all the tension drain from my head …… I begin to drift into a state of deeper and deeper relaxation ….. I enjoy this pleasant feeling while my mind slowly unwinds …… I feel comfortable, warm and relaxed …… Now I think about the muscles in my neck …… allowing this warm wave of relaxation to fill all the muscles in my neck …… enabling my neck to feel comfortable and relaxed …… I am feeling the waves of relaxation pass from my neck into my shoulders and enjoying this warm feeling I drift into a deeper and deeper level of relaxation …… the feeling of relaxation passes down through my shoulders to my arms reaching down to the tips of my fingers …… my arms are now feeling tired and heavy as I sink into a deeper and deeper state of relaxation ……. now my chest muscles are relaxed too and my stomach muscles …… I focus on the gentle rise and fall of my stomach muscles as I slowly breath in and out ……. now this warm relaxed feeling flows through my legs as I notice how relaxed my limbs have become …… my mind has become totally still and deeply, deeply relaxed …… I concentrate on how my body feels while I enjoy this deep state of relaxation ……. I am feeling lighter and lighter …… floating higher and higher into a deeper level of relaxation …... I am now completely relaxed ....... more relaxed than I have ever felt before ...... as I experience this beautiful feeling of peace and calm ...... I will just let go of my mind...... drift, relax and drift …….

Now that I am totally deeply relaxed and at peace with myself …… I will imagine myself in my special place …… this is a very special place for me …… very peaceful and calm and filled with tranquillity …… being in my special place makes me very calm and relaxed ….. now I imagine thinking about my anger and the pain , anxiety, unhappiness, confusion and fear it has caused me and the people I love …… and now with eagerness and excitement I think about being able to manage my anger ....... and I feel great about it ….. absolutely fine because there is no reason why I cannot stop it ….. I have a lot to gain if I am able to manage my anger ..... …… and a lot to lose if I don’t sort it out …… anger is dangerous to my health and can also cause harm to other people ...... it does more harm than good ...... this is why
