Chapter 9

Wade was shaking. Adrenaline pushed through his body from excitement. Well, a little bit of anxiety, too. He had wanted Tybalt since he saw him. Getting him now seemed almost like a dream. Wade was afraid if he blinked too hard, he’d wake up in bed alone.

Tybalt peeled the covers back and put the pillows near the head of the bed. He then turned and pulled off the jacket Wade had draped over him outside. It was warmer in the house, but Tybalt still flushed with goose bumps after taking off the light coat.

“Are you cold?”

“Excited.”

“Me, too.” Wade settled on the bed and pulled off his boots and socks. “Nothing like two virgins crawling into bed together, huh?”

“We’ll figure it out.”

“I know we will.” When he stood, Tybalt unfastened Wade’s jeans while he slid down Tybalt’s sweats. When they were both naked, they climbed into bed. With Tybalt on his back, Wade moved close so they could kiss and touch one another. Tybalt’s skin was so soft it seemed to compel Wade to touch him more.

“You can press harder. I won’t break.”

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You’re actually tickling me.”

“That’s not what I was trying to do. I mean, I don’t want you to laugh. Well, at least not at me.” Wade grinned and stroked a little firmer. “Better?”

“Much.” Tybalt tried turning toward him, but his belly got in the way. “I’m either going to have to stay on my back or roll the other direction.”

“Just let me come to you.” Wade took his time touching Tybalt. Each stroke make him feel profoundly grateful, and that niggling little doubt that he was dreaming tried to return, but what kept him anchored was the sound of his mate.

Mate.

The word itself sent a shiver through his body that he swore was echoed in Tybalt’s. When Wade kissed his way from Tybalt’s shoulder to his mouth, he felt something between them had changed. Emotionally, they had connected, but now he felt the pull of pheromones. Tybalt smelled deliciously compelling.

“Tybalt?”

“Yes?”

“I think…”

Tybalt’s eyes came open, locking on to him. He didn’t finish, but Wade didn’t think he needed to. Tybalt felt it, too.

Slowly, sweetly, he kissed his way all over his mate’s body, even his belly. He felt odd when he did, almost as if he shouldn’t be having sex with a man carrying a baby. It seemed wrong somehow. He wasn’t sure why. But when he rested his forehead against Tybalt’s stomach, he thought that maybe, in the way of mates, he was bonding to the baby, too. Cyrille hadn’t ever shown Tybalt or the child any kind of affection at all. By waiting, perhaps he would bind them all together as a family.

“Are you disappointed?”

Wade was pulled from his thoughts. When he looked up at Tybalt, he was worrying his lower lip. “What in the world would I be disappointed in?”

“That I’m carrying another man’s baby.”

Wade moved upward until he was lying next to Tybalt. He cupped his chin and kissed him until Tybalt made a sound of longing.
