Chapter 19

Was that stick broken naturally, or possibly from a footstep?

That was one of the questions Chase asked himself when he did a perimeter check of the property while Alexis still slept. It had been a few days since their first night together, and though they had enjoyed some domestic bliss, the ever-looming presence of the stalker was never far from the back of their minds.

There had been no new leads, and besides several angry voicemails. Selfishly, he didn’t mind the limbo because it meant more time with Alexis. For once, he was happy, even if it was only for a short time.

There was just one thing missing.

As he sat down on the cabin’s front porch, Chase dialed his brother’s number again. He had been trying to get a hold of Levi since he landed stateside, but he was always getting the runaround.

“Welcome back, man,” had been the text he received once Chase sent one saying he was home. Ever since, it had been one or two-word answers to all of his questions.

He knew they didn’t have a close relationship. Not with how they grew up, and the fact that Chase left his brother behind in their awful home when he joined the marines. But there had to be a way they could make it up to each other. They had to be able to connect.

If that meant he had to go on vacation and track him down, Chase would do it. But first, he had a stalker to catch, and a woman inside to wake up.

He grinned when he thought about the ways he would welcome her to the new day.

He walked into the bedroom to see Alexis still curled up in bed, although she was in a cute position that had her butt up in the air. A shot of lust filled him at the sight, and he couldn’t resist crossing to her, and running his hands along her ass. He loved every inch of her curves. Her body was so soft and welcoming.

“Chase?”

Alexis started to roll over, but he stopped her. “Shhh…yeah it’s me, I just got back from checking outside. Stay like this, though.”

“What…why…oh!”

Her words cut off as Chase trailed his fingers under her and into her wet heat. Alexis wiggled beneath him as he traced her folds, caressing every inch of her sex.

“This is the best way to wake up,” Alexis murmured into her pillow.

His fingers brushed against her bundle of nerves, and she made a keening sound, grinding against his hand. “You like that, baby?”

Alexis moaned as he began moving his fingers in a circle, his palm cupping the rest of her. “Yes, don’t stop, that feels…”

Chase grinned at her excitement, and he decided his other hand needed something to do, so he slid two fingers inside her tightness.

Alexis groaned and pushed into him. “More, I need more.”

He added a third finger and started thrusting, keeping rhythm with his other fingers on his clit. Chase could watch her like this all day. Alexis had pink cheeks, her face half on the pillow as her head tilted back in ecstasy.
