Within the rock: ALBATUSA coming with lamp before a shrine.

ALBATUSA:

In this noon of the day

hidden within the rock from the Zenith of Your sight,

dear SisterGod

I see into my head

and now this gift I see,

gift

for the greatest joy for you.

A jewel of light itself

captive and so fiercely compressed,

only break it open

and its brightness released is blinding and burning death

to all things of darkness on Your earth.

I see that:

such a joy to you:

obliteration of them all.

A world all in your likeness,

a world all light.

Oh, some brain would that need, to achieve,

some art.

Some doctor.

[ABEMINOTH is quietly before her: a demon of light itself, all white.]

ABEMINOTH:

Here I am.

You dream me,

I am here.

[ALBATUSA steps back.]

ABEMINOTH:

You do not ask who I am.

You do not dare.

See my name in your dream.

ALBATUSA:

I see no dreams.

In my sleep

as in waking

I see only pure light.

ABEMINOTH:

Why so you do.

How else could I be here?

Now see my name.

[Whispers in her ear.]

[ALBATUSA pulls away.]

ABEMINOTH:

I can do much in answer to your prayer.

I can conceive a light of such intensity,

it shall char all those your SisterGod detests,

sear their eyes to sightless jelly,

heat their life-blood to boiling in their veins,

the water in their lungs to seething steam,

fuse their entrails to molten liquid within,

blister their skin from their flesh,

crumble their flesh from their bones,

dissolve their earthly substance to shadow

printed onto their blast-bleached walls,

black light itself on white

like their own satanic writing.

Thus by light itself shall moral darkness

come to darkness visible.

I need only replicate the action of the Sun.

Is it not this you pray for, for the world?

I go to study how to do it.

ALBATUSA:

No!

ABEMINOTH:

You lose conviction?

You mislike me now?

Dear sister, how else but through me

came into the world the arts of death by which

already you do your god the joy that you have done?

[He makes to go; she reaches as to stay him…]

ABEMINOTH:

You repent your prayer?

I am a wish that you have wished

and cannot be unwished.

[Again he makes to go.]

ALBATUSA:

Wait.

Abeminoth!

ABEMINOTH:

Oh I shall wait.

Centuries.

To grow flesh and brain,

and be your doctor of terminal light.

ALBATUSA:

No!

I saw in a moment of insanity.

ABEMINOTH:

You saw in vision.

ALBATUSA:

Not their bodies!

No joy for our SisterGod

in their bodies merely destroyed.

More joy for her surely in their souls transmuted to light.

Serenity.

ABEMINOTH:

Slavery you say?

ALBATUSA:

Serenity.

ABEMINOTH:

Too abstract.

Here is something.

[…in her hand, ALBATUSA finds a shell-like casket of white rock…]

A merest scintilla of your exterminating light.

No no.

Keep tightly closed.

Until that moment of your next assassin’s joy.

[ALBATUSA hesitates.]

ABEMINOTH:

Do you pray nothing now?

You would become human?

Too late.

You have thought me.

I am born.

[He is gone, ALBATUSA reaching vainly after.]
