Mitch was exhausted by the time his shift finished. There was something about a holiday that brought out all the crazies, and Christmas Eve was a time when people tended to drink far too much as well. Fortunately things were starting to quiet down at the precinct and his handover to the next shift went smoothly, so it wasn’t quite one when he ran down the front steps and out into the parking lot. Damn, it was cold. He sniffed he air but couldn’t smell snow, although it was certainly cold enough for snow. Instead of texting Sawyer straight away, he waited until he was in his car with the heater running on high. He wasn’t really surprised when Sawyer answered immediately. He’d thought his lover might stay up waiting for him. What did surprise him was when Sawyer added, Chris is at the hospital. The baby’s on the way.

A Christmas baby. That was very special indeed.

Sawyer was waiting at the roller door to open it for him, and then they walked fast across to Sawyer’s apartment. Once inside, he stomped his feet and rubbed his hands.

“Damn, it’s cold. It might even snow.”

“A white Christmas. Isn’t that what everyone says they want?”

“I don’t mind. The first snow is always really pretty. It’s just that by February I’m totally over it.”

Sawyer laughed. “Oh yes, me, too. Now, how tired are you? Would you like coffee? Or maybe some cake?”

“Coffee, yes please. Mrs. Wilson’s cake, hell no. I have to work tomorrow. Today.”

The sipped their coffee, and Sawyer brought out a packet of chocolate chip cookies, which they nibbled as they talked until he looked up and the packet was empty, and so was the coffee pot. Mitch was surprised. He hadn’t been aware of time passing, just that he was talking to a man he really enjoyed being with. But now he truly did want to fuck him.

Mitch jumped to his feet. “I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed anyone’s company as much as I enjoy yours. Shall we go to bed, and move this up to the next level?”

“Absolutely.” Sawyer led the way upstairs and pointed to his bed. The quilt was already pulled down, and a jar of lube and a packet of condoms were sitting on the nightstand. Mitch’s breath caught in his chest, and his dick hardened and lengthened instantly.

He stepped across to the chair in the corner of the room and peeled his clothes off as fast as he could.

Still, Sawyer was naked before he was. But not much sooner. Mitch climbed onto the bed and lay on his side, pulling Sawyer into his arms.

“I’ve waited days to do this.” Then he kissed him, pouring his heart and soul into his lips and holding Sawyer against his body from their toes all the way up to their mouths.

Mitch stroked his foot up and down Sawyer’s leg as he copied the motion with a hand on Sawyer’s back. But most of his attention was on kissing him with everything he had in him.
