THE COMMERCIAL RAPPER

1. I’m trying to make this paper. I can’t front. I’m trying to have girls jocking, a fleet of cars, and make some guest spot on those good MTV reality shows. This is a business, period.

2. I gotta lot of respect for artists like Tone Loc and Young MC. I think Nelly is the modern-day Young MC. They really paved the way for a lot of shit and don’t get credit. Soulja Boy can’t be mad at him. Drake is about to do it. A lot of rappers say they keep it real now, but the only thing that’s ever mattered is money. When hip-hop makes money, then hip-hop matters. Jigga, Em, and OutKast have obviously moved units. Puff is always the man. Go look at the RIAA sales numbers. The top of the list are the artists I care about.

3. Top songs. “I’ll Be Missing You” was hot. “Lose Yourself.” “Hey Ya.” I don’t know, my top songs change quickly. Kanye is usually doing something. Jay. I love when an emcee teams up with a singer like J.Lo or Kelly Rowland. Ultimately, songs get in my head, and then that’s like the banger you know. I like collabos.

4. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know I will be making it rain and popping bottles up in this motherfucker till I die.
