Chapter 14

Why was I so shocked when Reese asked me on a date? I wish I could answer that question myself.

I stand in the bathroom at his house and stare into the mirror. I start to see more of the person I am every day, and it is all because of him. Maybe it is because he is a strong, confident, and highly sexy man, and I still find it hard to believe I am the one he wants.

A quick knock followed by his voice makes my heart flip inside my chest. “Are you ready, my Goddess?” His solid masculine voice came through the door so gently.

“I’m coming!” I shout to him.

“Not, right now, but you will be later.” He says teasingly, and I swear my panties are ruined.

I open the door and playfully smack his chest. He catches my hand and pulls my body against his. His lips fall to mine, ravishing them. The room and the world around us swirls and fades as my eyes begin to close—the smell of his Achilles' cologne filling my nostrils.

He breaks our kiss, looking down at me. “You look incredible tonight.” His eyes fill with hunger.

“Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself.” I tease him, followed by a wink.

He holds out his arm and waits until I loop mine through. He leads me down to his car and opens the door for me to get inside. I sit and relax as he gets into the driver's seat.

After a few minutes of driving, I break the silence. “Are you going to tell me where you are taking me?”

“I wasn’t planning on it. It’s still a surprise, baby.” He winks at me before turning his attention back to the road.

I cross my arms and fake pout, causing him to laugh loudly. He reaches over and grabs my hand, bringing it to his lips. The sweet gesture goes right to my heart.

We pull into a low-lit, gorgeous Italian restaurant. I open my mouth, take in the view of the place, and let the lights fill my eyes.

“This place is beautiful.” I say quietly but still loudly enough for him to hear.

“It really is.” Pride fills his words and features.

“Let’s go inside.” He says as he gets out of the car before walking to my side and helping me out.

Walking inside, Reese is greeted by Mr. Lewis with great respect. The host leads us to a private corner in the back of the restaurant. Candles and rose petals were laid across the table and the floor surrounding it. A waiter comes by with a Brand new bottle of white wine and sets it down for us.

Reese takes my hand and leads me to my chair, pushing it in once I am seated. He takes his seat and grabs the bottle of wine.

“Would you like a glass?” He tips the bottle toward me, and I nod. He pours the glass and hands it to me.

I stare at the man across the table from me and begin to think.
