'Working' and 'clubs' were supposed to mean something else to Calyx: usually a nice Bliss payoff or at least some cash at the end of a blowjob or quickie. In either case he'd have fun because he'd be on Bliss.

That wasn't the case now. He hadn't thought he'd ever hate being in a club, but he did tonight as he absently moved his hips and feet around while keeping an eye on the sleaze balls circling Darkness like he was a side of beef thrown in an ocean full of sharks. Calyx's head ached from clenching his jaw. The smell of Bliss leaking out of the pores of the other clubbers was making him jittery, and he had hair like goddamn Strawberry Shortcake.

"You look like a skank," Parker sang in his right ear as the black-haired prescient danced beside him. "Red is so not your color."

"And you look like an elf who went Goth because the other elves hate you," Calyx replied as he finally dragged his eyes off of Black to bat his eyes at his partner in crime.

"Guess we're going home with each other tonight, then," Parker said with a mischievous grin.

"Doesn't mean I'm touching any inch of you." Calyx batted his lashes at the other man. "Cole's got dibs on your ass, remember?"

Parker swung his dark braid over one shoulder. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Uh huh. I bet he's hung like a moose. The dumb ones usually are."

Parker's playful smile faded. "He's not dumb."

"And you just blew your Mr. Cool act," Calyx said smugly. He glanced over at Black again. Darkness had his head tilted back and was staring at the lights as if he were entranced by them but was more likely wishing he could disappear into them. "So have you rocked his world yet?" Calyx asked, returning his attention to Parker. "Who's on top, by the way? Or do you just cuddle until someone's dick accidentally slides up someone's ass?"

"Oh, I can top," Parker replied breezily. He did a slow spin around Calyx. "I used to top Black, after all."

"You mean you used to rape him," Calyx snarled, catching the smaller man by the arm and yanking him up against his chest. "Don't make it sound like it was anything other than what it was, Parker. Black didn't choose you. I'm the only one he's chosen."

"And that's why you're with him and I'm playing this pointless game with Jake," Parker hissed back, yanking his arm free. "You don't need to keep rubbing it in my face that he loves you, Calyx. Someone might get the idea that you're afraid he'll leave you. Get a grip, already. Who would he possibly leave you for? Me? Genesis? Mneumonia?"

All of the above, Calyx thought uneasily, but he sure as hell wouldn't say it aloud to Parker.

He watched Parker's Adam's apple rise and fall. "Relax, Calyx. He's always known I loved him. It's never changed the way he felt about me, and it won't do so now."

Calyx was glad he didn't know what unrequited love felt like.
