The insulators on the rails were attached by swan-necked brackets, giving the impression in silhouette of their being upside down. Not wanting the bother of making nearly 200 swan necks from fine wire, I just copied what the real things looked like. The multi-railed Ratio poles can be seen to the right in this shot of a V2-hauled fast freight.

There were much smaller telegraph poles along Station Road. These were made in the same jig as the larger ones. The reason why I used brass for their construction is the nearness of their siting to the baseboard edge. Plastic would be far too vulnerable.
