The evidence he cites is relatively clear that multitasking does not truly occur with activities that take place in similar parts of the brain. There is always a trade-off or diminishment of time or decision-making ability.

Finally, Greenfield (2015), another renowned neuroscientist, argues that the Mind Change created by our new technologies is of a similar scope and importance as the climate change that is impacting our planet. But the issue of cyber-induced changes in the brain, she notes, is “a complex situation, one not amenable to a definitive litmus test or a single smoking-gun experiment” (p. 32). Her defense of the umbrella concept of mind change, however, is founded on a wide array of respected research:

[It] draws together threads from apparent societal trends and expert professional views, as well as a wide range of direct and indirect scientific findings from different disciplines. The majority of the scientific studies reported […] have been peer-reviewed; this process ensures that they have demonstrated ‘statistically significant’ findings, which means they are not subjective judgments but the result of a standardized and well-established system of testing.
