18. Panoramic view of the A9, looking east, from Logieriat Wood. Pitlochry lies off to the left and the village of Ballinluig to the right. This location, introduced to the author by Iain Common, another amateur low flying photographer, has many advantages, not the least that from the car park in the woods the climb to this clearing is less arduous than most! There is also plenty of notice of approaching aircraft, regardless of the direction they are coming from; from the left or right. Because this glen or valley – Strath Tay – is very wide at this point a minimum of 400mm is necessary. Alternatively, use a 300mm with a 1.4 × converter. The ideal would be a 500mm.
