“Your dad must be quite a guy”

During “ABQ,” the 13th episode of the second season of Breaking Bad, Walter White, Jr. (RJ Mitte), is shown giving a television interview about his fundraising website, SaveWalterWhite.com, and more generally, about his father, Walt (Bryan Cranston). During the interview, Walter Jr. touches on a topic that is both central to his relationship with his father, and in direct proportion to the relationship many viewers had with Walt.1 Walter Jr. tells a TV correspondent (Kieran Sequoia) why he developed the website to solicit donations for his father’s chemotherapy treatments, and also reflects patriarchal ideology of what it means to be a “good man.”
