“Liam?” Declan was concerned. Liam was blushing bright red, but it was the way his mate had frozen, his arousal deflating that worried him.

Was it possible Liam wasn’t as into this as Declan had thought? Maybe they should back into the other room and eat, talk some more. Of course Declan would need time to jack off as his cock was as hard as stone.

He never should have agreed to rush this. His mate was either a virgin or had very little experience. He probably just needed more time to get to know Declan. But unless Liam talked to him, it would be hard to know what the problem was.

Leaning down he pressed a kiss to those heated cheeks. “Will you please tell me what’s going on?”

The arm covering Liam’s eyes finally came down as those blue-green eyes stared up in Declan’s filled with anxiety. “I’m… I mean I’ve never…”

He let out a relieved breath as he realized what Liam was trying to say. He’d hoped it was only that, but Declan hadn’t realized how afraid he’d been that it was something worse, like Liam didn’t really want Declan, until Liam stumbled over his words.

“Are you a virgin?”

Those eyes got as big as saucers, the man visibly gulping before nodding. That arm went back up over Liam’s eyes. Declan wished he could move it back off, but with one hand holding him up and the other with a finger inside the snuggest, warmest channel Declan had ever felt, he wasn’t willing to move it.

“Hey, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about.” Liam still refused to take his arm down. “Will you please look at me?”

Liam shook his head no.

“Please?” Declan was willing to beg if it meant he got to keep his finger right where it was. A part of him was afraid if he removed it, Liam would never allow Declan the pleasure again. Still if his mate wasn’t ready, he wasn’t ready. “Do you want to stop?”

That arm came down to reveal wide eyes. “You would do that?”

Declan was pretty sure he felt his dick cry out in denial. “Of course I would.” He started to pull his finger out assuming that’s what Liam wanted.

“No.” Liam managed to drive his ass farther down on Declan’s retreating digit. “I don’t want to stop. I was just surprised you’d be okay with it.” Those blue-green eyes looked up at him with uncertainty.

Declan wanted to cry in relief that Liam still wanted this, but he forced the tears back. His mate needed his reassurance, and Declan was more than willing to give it to him, even if it meant baring his soul.

“This hadn’t been how I’d planned on telling you, but I love you. I’d do anything to make you happy, including waiting, if that’s what you need.” He held his breath, praying the man who held his heart didn’t scoff at his words.

Wide eyes stared at Declan’s lips in wonder, fingers tracing his lips as if Liam were trying to touch the words Declan had said.
