Chapter Seven

Leofrick stared, and stared hard, at the human in front of him.

Why had he taken the man’s shirt off? Oh, right, to make sure that he hadn’t been hiding any weapons beneath his clothes.

Leo had also removed the man’s boots and socks, leaving him in only his pants.

And Leo had nearly removed those as well.

He hadn’t. He’d left them on, using sheer willpower for that one.

But he’d wanted to. He almost had. Especially when he’d touched the man.

Leo didn’t even know the man’s name, but he was so damned…desirable.

His hands were strung high above his head, making his chest and stomach look a little longer than what they actually were and highlighting each dip and groove.

For a human, and a bastard hunter, he looked really good.

The man’s blond hair fell into his eyes a little. Or it would have, had he not been blindfolded. He didn’t look too impressed with his situation.

“I know you’re there!” he snapped, pulling on the ropes that held his arms up high. “Face me like a man, you coward!”

Leo said nothing. He could hardly keep a distance, but he couldn’t bring himself to leave either.

He had the oddest urge to press his tongue into the man’s navel and then push his hunting trousers down so that he could see his cock.

Leo’s heart thumped in his ears. He swallowed hard. His fingers itched to touch, ached to do so, and yet he did nothing. He kept his distance, and he stayed right where he was.

He could only listen while the angry human attempted to abuse him.

“No matter what you do to me, you wretched monster, I won’t give you the satisfaction of hearing me scream.”

Leo wanted to hear him scream all right, but not for the reasons this human thought.

“I won’t tell you anything about my village, or the men I came with.”

That, Leo had to call him out on.

“There’s no scent of other humans on you. Only another shifter, a wolf that has been banished from here for quite some time.”

The human’s mouth parted, and blond brows rose up high. He was shocked.

Good.

If only Leo could take that blindfold off. Then he could see those grey eyes one more time.

The human had been stunned when Leo had snuck up on him.

He’d put up a good fight, but his strength had been no match for Leo’s. Leo captured his prey, tied him down, and then slung him over his shoulder and brought him here.

The human had been angry and struggled the entire way, and even then, all Leo had been able to think about was the smell.

So soft, so good, like clean earth and freshly trimmed grass. Like coming home.

Even now, as Leo tried to fight it, he found himself inching closer.

The human regained his composure and snarled again, unaware that Leo was moving toward him. “That is not true. I am with a camp of twenty men, and each of them has weapons that can kill a monster like you. You and your miserable alpha.
