Chapter Eight

Andy woke in a strange bed, naked, sweaty, covered with cum, and wonderfully blissed out. The smell of sex lingered in the air, reminding him why his body ached so much. Lying next to him, with one arm thrown over his head, was the most beautiful man he’d ever shared a bed with.

I should have left hours ago. He hadn’t intended to fall asleep, but he had, and now crazy thoughts went through his head. Thinking about last night’s connection set off a chain reaction of“what-ifs” in his mind. What if he stayed and they made love again? What if he brought Lyon breakfast in bed? What if…

Andrew sighed and turned away. In this time and place, having sex didn’t mean a commitment, and clinging to the man would only embarrass both of them. Better to just enjoy what they had without putting Lyon through some potentially awkward moments when he woke up.

Lyon lay stretched out like a lazy lion. The tawny god snored softly, his breath warm against Andy’s cheek when Andy leaned over to kiss him good-bye. Lyon made him feel wanted and desirable, and he would always remember their night together, but it would make things easier to sneak out now and spare them both the awkward morning after.

Lyon ’s cottage was very much like his own. Andy tiptoed out of the bedroom, retrieved his pants from the living room floor, and slipped them on quickly. Quiet as a mouse, he opened the door and followed the brick path to his own place.

As much as he hated to wash Lyon ’s scent from his body, he couldn’t walk around all day with cum covering his chest like a plaster of Paris. A shower was a necessity. Before he slipped beneath the spray, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror.

I look different.

Run of the mill, mediocre Andrew had morphed into a thirtysomething mover and shaker, a guy who looked vibrant and happy. Gradually he came awake, and when he opened his eyes, they quickly narrowed with annoyance. The spot next to him was empty and much too cold, meaning Lyon had been sleeping alone for a long time. This would not do. He had a day off, and he’d wanted to spend it with Andy. Lyon sat up, swung his legs over the bed, and stood.
