Chapter 11

Twenty minutes later, as I munched on my buttered popcorn and slurped on my Dr. Pepper, I noticed Justin staring at me.

“What?” I said, stuffing a few more pieces in my mouth.

“Did you just growl at me when I went to grab a handful?” He asked incredulously.

“Umm, I might have. I’m sorry. I get kind of possessive with my popcorn.”

I didn’t tell him that when Ashley and I came, she ended up going to the concession stand and getting her own bag when she saw I intended to keep my hand in the bag to block her.

I slid the bag over. I whispered, “If you hold the popcorn, I probably won’t be able to keep my hands off of you.”

He grabbed the bag and held it tight. I couldn’t help but smile. I pulled the arm rest up and slid next to him. He tried to play cool but I could see him starting to breathe a little quicker. I took his hand and laced my fingers through his. I leaned into him and breathed in his scent. The movie started and we found ourselves totally focused on the storyline. At some point, Justin put his arm around my shoulders and I rested my head against his shoulder. He turned his head and captured my mouth with his. I felt so naughty making out in a movie, but I didn’t care. He was so hard to resist.

A loud explosion on the screen got our attention breaking the kiss but Justin kept running his hand through my hair and up and down my shoulder.

The credits rolled and the house lights came up. I squinted at the brightness. I felt Justin take my hand and lead me down the steps of the theater to the exit door. I loved how my hand seemed so tiny wrapped in his. When we were outside the theater, he spun around and pulled me up against him. His mouth teased mine with soft kisses and I held my breath.

“You are so delicious.” He murmured against my lips and the vibration sent chills through my body. “I really don’t want to have to leave you tonight.”

I took a breath. “Then don’t.”

He stopped kissing me and looked into my eyes. “I’m so sorry, Callie. I have to. I’m flying out first thing in the morning to Austin, Texas. I have meetings all week.”

“But it’s a Sunday.” I found myself saying.

“I know, babe, but I have to be with a potential client first thing Monday morning and that was the only flight that wasn’t booked solid.”

I tried not to let the disappointment show, but the look on his face told me I wasn’t fooling him. “Callie, there is so much I want to talk to you about, but this isn’t the right time or place. There will be a time for us to be together because I want that more than anything.”

“I do too, Justin. I understand.” I said trying to supportive. “I just work for someone and you have your own firm.
