CHAPTER THIRTEEN

ALEXANDER

We’re walking through Whole Foods with two shopping carts, two! Alexa is sitting in the cart Lily is pushing and talking animatedly about things Anne used to cook, what she likes and doesn’t like and pointing at all the processed foods that is marketed to grab kids attention and I’m in awe when Lily diverts her attention away and tells Alexa she can make it and that it will taste much better and be better for her tummy and not upset it. I must admit grocery shopping is not something I’ve ever had to really do, going into the Navy right out of school and being deployed majority of the time. I look at my full cart and would never have even known to buy half this shit or should I say raw ingredients, I can tell Lily’s in her element because her whole being is alight with this menial task but there’s no way I want her going to the grocery store when I’m not home.

I’ll suggest that when the groceries need topping up I’ll have her order online, instead of having to be out in the open in a grocery store. There’s a few things we’ll need to talk about tonight because with my business the team can get spun up at any time with no notice. I have no reservations with Alexa being in Lily’s care and I’m grateful my princess has an amazing woman to care for her, it’s the nitty gritty of my life and how things work day to day and how a day can change on a dime and all that’s involved .

The safety of my girls is my number one concern, my girls... I’m blown away that I’m here saying this but Lily is everything a man could ever dream of. I need to make sure they are taken care of and with that comes some protocols to follow. Davies will protect Lily and Alexa if we do have to leave on a job but I’d still prefer it to be me.

I hear Lily talking and only realize it’s to me when they both giggle. “You haven’t heard a word we’ve said have you?”

And I chuckle, “I’m sorry I was running through things in my head, what did you ask girls?”

“Sketti or chickwen faw dinnaw Uncwle Awex?” Alexa asks all excited.

“What would you like to have Princess? I’m just happy we’re being fed,”

Alexa giggles, “twue I’s needs home foods so sketti twoonight.”

“You’re both acting like you’ve been starving,” Lily states and giggles.

Alexa and I both say, “We have!” All serious.

“You will get sick of all the cupcakes, cookies, muffins and cakes soon enough.”

“Oh, Wiwwy no ways, we eats them all.” Alexa says as she rubs her tummy.

All I can do is nod and laugh once more, Lily has no idea how much food it takes to fuel not only me and Alexa but as soon as my team smells a whiff of her goods they’ll be in that elevator like their ass is on fire.
