Miles sat in silence for a few minutes. The near disaster on the highway was unnerving. She was right. Someone was after her. Why? He was going to have to apply his intellect to the problem, and try to figure out what was going on.

He hated to see Cat so upset. And the phrase she used, ‘for now.’ They were both acutely aware of the fact that he would be leaving soon.

Also, it was pretty clear to Miles that he’d mishandled her talking to him about sex. She was sharing something intimate. He was grateful that Cat trusted him enough to share, especially about her ex-husband. He also wished with all his heart that he could have been around earlier to rescue her from that obviously mentally ill, obsessive man.

Rescue? Who do you think you are, Miles, Prince Charming? He shook his head. His feelings for Cat were unexpectedly strong. He wanted to hold her. He was so very close to ditching the whole idea of behaving. He wanted to take her into his arms and kiss her with all the passion that she generated in him.

He sighed.

Maybe if he told her about his sex life, she would laugh. That would be good, he thought, if he could make her laugh.
