CHAPTER SIX

He became more and more eager as he got closer to his home with Casey. It wasn’t much but it was just right for them. Gom, through Soldier and also his job, could afford anything he wanted in the way of accommodations, but he was completely happy where he was. Casey was all he needed. He’d use his money for the times when they could both take some time off and they would travel. Maybe they’d take another trip to New York where they’d gone once and had a wonderful time. Casey did love his theater and Gom enjoyed the shows, too. Maybe he’d have to plan something for them after this case was finished and before the school year started. Right now, he had a mission.

Casey met him at the door and without saying a word, tugged him inside, locking the door behind him. Gom started to say something but Casey covered his lips with a finger and pulled him right into the bedroom.

“When I heard the car, I started the shower. It’s ready for you. I’ve had mine. I’ll meet you beside the bed. Okay?” Casey ended his request with a soft kiss, not even waiting for a reply before turning to leave the small bathroom. Like Gom would argue with any of Casey’s plans. It looks like Casey had the same mission for tonight.

A few minutes later Gom walked into a romantic setting that didn’t even seem like their bedroom. He hadn’t paid attention when they were heading to the bathroom, having eyes only for Casey. His lover had turned the room into a kind of Arabian dreamland. There were lots of decorative pillows and the bed, a simple four poster, had colorful netting hanging from the tops of the four posts and draping down at the bottom. There were candles lit and they smelled wonderful. Gom was speechless as his eyes took in the beautiful setting.

“How did you—Casey, this is unbelievable. I love this. But how…”?”

“I work in a theater, right? The next show they’re doing is The King and I. Sets came in today and I was there at the time. I borrowed these for the evening. I’ll take it all back in the morning. I just wanted to surprise you. I love you so much, Gom. I can’t give you a big beautiful house, but I can try to make this place special every once in a while. We can make some memories, huh?” Casey looked like he might think that Gom would laugh at his efforts.

Gom took Casey’s face in his hands and looked into his eyes as he said, “This has made me so happy. I love it more than I can say, though I’ll try. It warms my heart that you saw this stuff and thought about making this happen for me. It’s so pretty in here. I love the scent of the candles. I love how the bed looks. It all says Casey loves Gom enough to make him feel special and loved.
