Tate Boat

The Tate Boat runs every 40 minutes during gallery opening hours, shuttling back and forth between Tate Britain and Tate Modern, and stopping off at the London Eye along the way.

Tickets are available from Tate Modern and Tate Britain, as well as online and by calling 020-7887 8888, or, subject to availability, on the boat itself.

Embarking from the small pier in front of Tate Modern, you are taken in the 220-seat catamaran (with exterior and interior designs by artist Damien Hirst) to Millbank pier in front of Tate Britain. The pier was designed by architects David Marks and Julia Barfield, who were also responsible for the London Eye. It features a lighting installation by artist Angela Bulloch, who was shortlisted for the 1997 Turner Prize. Fluorescent tubing embedded into the floor of the pontoon is computer programmed to provide changing lighting effects at night.
