Chapter Eleven

Alyson stood there alone, staring at the closed door, burning up and profoundly humiliated. A never-ending supply of tears now rolled down her chin.

It took another few minutes before she came to her senses completely and fully understood what had happened to her.

She slapped her hands over her face and tried to make herself cry again. But apparently, she had cried all out her tears already.

Right.

She lived her whole life without needing anyone’s help because the one thing she hated more than anything in the world was someone pitying her.

The Gallagher brothers had pitied her. Why was she still standing there then?

Keeping herself rigid she ran a cold bath in the extravagant and massive tub in the pool house, carefully stripped off her dress, because she had to wear it again, and tried not to gasp for air as she sank her body into the icy water.

She sighed as eventually, its cooling effects penetrated beyond her skin. She dunked herself into the water and remained that way until she needed to breathe. After a few more moments, she climbed out, patted herself dry, and was relieved to discover that most of the burn in her asshole had dissipated enough that she wasn’t so acutely aware of it with every breath she took.

She wasn’t going to listen to them. Their order that she stay on the Gallagher property didn’t apply to her anymore. Also, they didn’t give her a valid reason for her to stay and she didn’t agree.

She had more than embarrassed herself in front of them, begging them to touch her, throwing herself at them because that was going to be her last time, only for them to reject her and leave. She was glad she would never be setting her eyes on them ever again. Not where she was going.

She put her dress back on, pressed down the wrinkles as best she could then went into the lounge area to find her panties, which slipped back on, and opened the door to leave then jumped in surprise when she saw Janine Hallbright standing there, looking as if she had stepped off the cover of a fashion magazine whereas Alyson was sure she looked like someone who had been spanked and then rejected.

What was she doing on their property at that time of the morning?

“Oh. I was looking for Sienna?” Janine said then with practiced grace removed the sunglasses from her face.

As far as Alyson knew Sienna and Janine were not friends which made her wonder why she was looking for her. Then it dawned on her. Janine had been suspicious of the events of the Draw Ball and she was probably looking for some clarification now.

“She’s not here,” Alyson said in clipped tones. They had hurt her more than Janine Hallbright ever could. She wasn’t good enough for them. Not pretty enough. Not rich enough. She didn’t have enough style and class for them, and they drew the line between them and her when they rejected her. She belonged on the other side.
