“Babe, you need to wake up.”

I love the way Puck nuzzles at my ear and into my hairline, which is why I refuse to open my eyes. I don’t want him to stop.

“I know you can hear me,” he places a soft kiss on my cheek. “And you’ll be late for work.”

That last piece of information should definitely wake me up, but instead, I burrow myself more under the covers.

“I don’t care,” I grin, my eyes still closed. “I want to stay here with you all day.”

“Aw, babe…” He starts kissing up and down my neck, making me giggle. “You know you love your job. You’ll hate me later if I don’t get you there on time.”

His words get me emotional all of a sudden. I struggle to turn with the comforter he has me trapped under. When I finally see his face, I feel a tear rolling down my temple and into the soft material of the pillowcase.

“I love you, Puck,” I whisper to him, watching as the amusement dies on his face.

“Why the tears then?”

“Because,” I sniffle out. “I love that you’re not putting my job down. And…”

“He put your job down?” he growls at me, interrupting my train of thought. I just nod. I am out of words.

Puck seems to take forever to react again. He just stares at me like he is seeing me for the first time.

“You are amazing, Emily Stewart,” he finally says, and I allow myself to breathe again. “You are beautiful, and you are smart. So damn smart.” He stares into my eyes when he says it. “I feel intimidated around you. I am proud of you. And I worry that I am not good enough for you, no matter what you might think.”

“Puck,” I gasp in shock, but then stop myself from lashing out. Because my first instinct is to ask if he is messing with me. “We are a complete mess.”

I love the happy grin taking over his face.

“I am so honored to be fucked up with you, Em.” He drops his mouth to mine and gives me the longest kiss.

I want to do so much more with him, but he is right, I will be late for work if I don’t go now. I don’t want Morgan on my ass. She watches me too closely as it is.

“I should get ready.” I lift a hand and push the messy hair out of his eyes. “I can’t believe how well I slept in this bed. Did I snore?”

“Only a little,” he chuckles.

“Oh my god,” I gasp. “I hope I didn’t keep you up. I’m so sorry!”

Puck just drops his mouth on mine again, his tongue licking at the seal of my lips, then teasing me until I open up. By the time he is done with me, I don’t remember what we were talking about.

“Up you go,” he pats me on the butt, and I giggle like a schoolgirl. I sound ridiculous even to my own ears.
