Kyle sat back in his chair, unable to control his smile. Everett delivered more than he expected, so much more that he was still semi hard, ready for a repeat. The man was gorgeous, aged perfectly, like fine wine that only got better with each year. Under his quiet exterior, Everett was extremely passionate, a caged animal waiting to break free. Oh, yeah, once Everett fully broke free of his inhibitions, Kyle knew he’d be in for one hell of a ride.

He continued to study him, sipping his beer, wishing he knew was what going on inside his head. Everett was deep, and more than likely considering possible repercussions, Kyle decided. The evidence was written all over his face whether he knew it or not. Kyle could read him, or thought he could, most likely just wishing, he decided, as his own thoughts and fears bubbled to the surface. He could easily fall for the tall and quiet cowboy. Just watching Everett lazily sip his beer while leaning back against the wall with his fly wide open turned him on. Potentially he was setting himself up for heartbreak.

Events of the past swarmed his mind. He thought of his disaster of a marriage and the aftereffects that still stung even though the relationship was so short. Kyle knew Everett was experiencing the same feelings only multiplied. While Kyle’s wounds were nearly healed, Everett’s were still wide open. The most important part of healing for Kyle was accepting the truth and embracing it. That’s where Everett was at, needing to acknowledge the fact that trumped all others. Being gay wouldn’t be the end of his world, but overcoming the backlash from his family that would follow might seem so.

Kyle’s parents hadn’t taken the news of the divorce well and as far as being gay went, they didn’t take the news at all. His mother swore it was a phase from a broken heart and said he’d get over it. His father blamed drugs and that gave Kyle quite a laugh. He didn’t use and thought the notion was amusing. The two of them hadn’t spoken much since.

Embracing who he truly was inside had associated costs, but as he looked back he didn’t see that he was any worse off than before. Now he was living life based on his needs, and while lonely at times, it beat not being true to himself. His only fantasy now was to have a mate, a person he connected with, enjoyed being with, and desired in an all-consuming way, just like the feeling he had at this very moment for Everett.

“Another beer?” Kyle asked more out of nervousness from the quiet than anything else.

A smirk appeared on Everett’s face. “I can think of other things I’d like more,” he admitted and rubbed the bulge in his jeans.

With worry taking a back seat, Kyle stood with pride and walked toward Everett. He wasn’t sure what to expect since it had been Everett’s first time and was quite relieved he hadn’t sent him packing back to heterosexualville.
