Aspen

I stood in front of the mirror in my office and took in a deep breath. I still hadn’t seen Elijah this morning, and it was going to be awkward considering what happened between us Saturday night. Today’s case would end, and the jury would make their decision. I needed to be on top of my game because now, Elijah would pull out all the punches since I wouldn’t settle. I picked up the remote, turned on some music, kicked off my heels, and began dancing. As soon as Colleen heard the music, she joined me. We danced, and we laughed. All the weight and worry of the case fell away and the anxiety I had felt earlier dissipated.

“For fuck sakes,” Elijah said as he opened my office door. “This is so damn unprofessional.”

I turned the music off and put on my heels.

“Feel ready now?” he asked with irritation.

“Yes.” I smiled. “I’m ready to kick your ass in court.”

“You wish,” he spoke as he buttoned his suit coat.

As we walked down the street, I brought up Saturday night.

“Don’t you think we should talk about Saturday night?”

“What about it?”

“The hot and amazing sex we had,” I spoke.

“It was just sex, Aspen. Nothing else. Just like in Hawaii.”

“But you said before that it would never happen again and look, it did.”

“And you said the same thing. What happened to your office rule?” He glanced over at me.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about the amazing orgasms you gave me in Hawaii. I guess I just wanted to experience it again.”

I was so nonchalant about it that he stopped in front of the steps of the courthouse and stared at me.

“What did you say?”

“I’m pretty sure you heard me, Elijah.”

“Good God.” He shook his head and walked towards the door.

“And the way you were such an animal Saturday night. Hitting spots inside me I didn’t even know existed. It feels like I can still feel your hard cock inside me.”

I watched him as he swallowed hard and opened the door with one hand while the other was tucked tightly in his pants pocket.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” he asked as we walked inside.

“Nothing. I’m complimenting you. You are an amazing,” I looked around, “fuck,” I whispered in his ear.

Before he had time to react, Mr. Quinn walked over to him and I went inside the courtroom with a smile and met Renae. When Elijah walked in with his client and took his seat, I glanced over at him as he picked up his glass of water and guzzled it. I picked up my phone and sent him a text message.

“You should be proud of how easily you make me come, and how many times.”

I glanced over at him as he read the message just as the bailiff walked in.

“All rise. Court is now in session. Honorable Judge Swift is presiding.”

We all stood up, and I looked over at him again. A smile crossed my lips because he was flustered and now, he was off his game.
