Chapter 12
Peter sat in the car as the now very blonde Max made her way to the guard shack of the mansion. He couldn’t believe he was going along with what his partner had talked him into. It was amazing as she played the damsel in distress perfectly. What was even more amazing was how the guards, there were three of them, didn’t recognize her. They had been employed by his mother for years now. Yet they were oblivious to her true identity.
He was sporting a dark wig and mustache. Their plan was actually quite simple. It was extremely foolish. Max was going to get in through the front gate. Once inside, she was going to use the codes they’d uncovered to open the back entrance. Jenny had a gate that was not easily detected installed for quick getaways. Only she, Max, CJ and he knew about it. Peter wondered if the security company even realized it had been installed.
Most likely not as the computer tech who had installed most of the security had mysteriously vanished. He was another in a handful who had seen too much and needed to be taken care of. Jenny had not even attempted to bribe him. Peter cringed at what his mother would do to them if she discovered their duplicity. What else could they do? He was still wanted by the FBI and Max was retired and not in the loop. There was no one to turn to, other than each other.
Both had a price on their heads, placed there by his mother, so the streets were not safe. Peter took a deep breath as Max did her thing. While not as attractive as Sam or Abby in a supermodel sort of way, she was still definitely all female. She was using her sexual powers to persuade them all. A stab of something the former FBI agent hadn’t felt in years flowed through his body. It had been literally years since he had felt jealous. His fears his feelings were growing for his partner were becoming validated.
There was no time to consider anything as Max had given him the signal. Knowing exactly where the security cameras were placed was a good thing as he made his way along the wall to the back. He was nearly out of breath by the time he had managed to walk the edge of the great estate. He waited patiently for the buzzer to sound. The gate squealed as it protested opening. Peter cringed, hoping the microphones would not pick up the sounds.
Peter waited until he heard the sound of the gate locking once again. If their plan succeeded, they would be going out the front gate, with Jenny in tow. The now dark-haired man made his way along the hedges. His mother was paranoid. There were so many cameras to avoid but it was easy as he and his brother had made a game of it while growing up. It was almost an art as he was able to make his way finally to the back patio.
