SHE CAME AWAKE TO THE drone of an engine. Shifting in her seat, she realized she was covered in a blanket, her head resting on a pillow, and the wonderful smell of coffee was tickling her nostrils.

“That’s it, young lady. Time to wake.”

She recognized the voice as the man from the hotel room and memories flooded back. Panting in terror, she tried to move, only to realize she was strapped into the seat. The sound she heard was the engine of a plane. Dear God, she was in flight to who knows where! Her eyes flew open and encountered the dark orbs of Jonas Blackshire.

“Well, given the ordeal you’ve been through, it’s no wonder you slept like you did. Now here’s some water and aspirin. Coffee after that. I’m sure the chloroform and whatever else they gave you is causing quite a headache.”

She recoiled against the seat as he offered the pills.

“Oh dear, there’s no need to worry. I apologize for the soaked linen, but it was the only way I could get you out safely and without comment,” he said as he pressed the glass of water into her hand. “Go on. Sooner you feel better, sooner you may see your Nick.”

At the mention of Nick’s name, her eyes filled with tears. She heard the man sigh then sit back in the seat opposite her. “Very well, but the aspirin is here.” He sat them on the small tray next to the coffee. “Believe it or not, I’m taking you home to Grafton. Nick is in the room beyond as he’s still weak. If you’d care to look to your left and back, you will see Noah, Lucky and your sister, Renee, all sleeping peacefully.”

Rebecca did as told and was overjoyed to, indeed, see her family. She turned back to Jonas. “Thank you,” she whispered. It felt like an immense weight had been lifted from her. She couldn’t help the tears running down her cheek, and took the proffered handkerchief. She was safe. Nick and the rest were here with her, and this man was taking them home. She reached for the aspirin and saw him grin.

“Now that we’ve established the truth, I’ll give you a rundown of what has happened since you were taken.” He went on to tell Rebecca of how Noah had seen the whole thing via security cameras, and contacted him to rectify the situation. “And do not worry. Reggie has been dealt with.”

Rebecca lowered her eyes at the utter lack of emotion in his voice. She knew that whatever had befallen the man who betrayed Jonas, it had not been pleasant. But the question remained as to why Noah contacted him.

“As I explained to Nick when we first met, I’m the head of the leather family.” At her look of confusion, he briefly explained the BDSM term and what it meant in relation to his aid. “What happens in my area is under my control.” He got up and held out his hand. “If you’re feeling up to it, I can let you see Nick for a bit.
