Finding the trailhead: From Laguna Hills on 1-5 take exit #91/EI Toro Road and drive 7.2 miles east on El Toro Road to Live Oaks Canyon. Turn right on Live Oaks Canyon at the sign for the O’Neil Regional Park and Wilderness Area. Drive 4.2 miles on Live Oaks Canyon, which becomes Trabuco Canyon, and turn left on the unmarked Trabuco Creek dirt road 1 mile past O’Neil Regional Park just beyond Rose Canyon Road on the left and after the bridge. Drive 4.5 miles on the unmarked gravel road, which is a county road for the first couple of miles and becomes a national forest road for the last couple of miles. The last 2 miles are a rougher dirt stretch. Park in the forest service parking area past the fire station. There is a picnic table on the left and the Holy Jim Trail sign and arrow is across the parking lot at the intersection of a dirt road heading uphill to the left. GPS: N33 40.62' / W117 31.03'
