Chapter 13. Man on a Mission

While Steph and Mason spent the day in an emotional hell, Cole was passed out for most of it. Sometime around 4 o’clock, he woke up lying in a bush in Chris’ back yard. He had been lying face down which was a good thing because he’d puked all over his arm. He crawled his way up to sit on Chris’ back steps as he lit up a cigarette. After he got done smoking, he stumbled into Chris’ house to find him sitting on the sofa smoking a bowl. Chris took a big hit from his water bong, after which set it down on the coffee table. He choked and coughed, and then began laughing when he saw Cole come in and flop down on his sofa. “Damn man I thought you’d gone home!” he said to Cole amidst the coughing after his hit.

“I just woke up in the bushes out back!” Cole told him, as his head pounded from a massive hangover! “Fuck my mouth tastes like ass!” he whined, grabbing a half drank beer sitting on the table and slammed it. Then he picked up the bong just as Chris handed him a lighter. He pushed the weed down with the end of the lighter and then fired up a bowl! They passed the bong back and forth a couple of times, until they were both totally baked again!

“Let’s go get some more beer!” Cole said to Chris, as he leaned forward on the sofa to get up.

“Man I don’t know, again tonight?” Chris baulked, not really wanting to go anywhere.

“Come on you pussy!” Cole taunted him.

“Fuck you, fine!” Chris finally relented as he got up. The two headed out to Cole’s truck and took off to get more beer. Chris just shook his head when Cole turns down Elm Street. They slowed down while they drove by Steph’s house once again. Chris noticed the fire in Cole’s eyes when he saw Mason’s bike still parked at her house. “Man, you have to let this shit go!” he told Cole.

“I ain’t letting anything fucking go!” Cole yelled, hitting his fist against his steering wheel! His truck roared as he slammed the gas pedal and tore off down the street.

They finally got home from the beer run and proceeded to get toilet hugging drunk. They fire up a fresh bowl in the bong, hitting it, until they were so ripped they couldn’t feel their faces. Chris just sat back and laughed, as Cole got hotter and hotter over the whole Mason thing. Even the pot wasn’t mellowing him out. By about midnight they had gone through a case of beer and tore up a dime bag of weed, neither one of them was feeling any pain.

It was about this time, when Cole had finally worked himself up enough liquid courage that he decided he was ready to do something about Mason. “Come on!” Cole said to Chris, as he staggered to get up.

“Come on what?” he questioned Cole, looking confused as hell.
