Chapter Ten

“Hello, ladies!” Will looked up to see Skyler walk through the back door.

Skyler was one of Carson’s dads. Skyler’s mate was Carson’s biological father and they lived not far from Holden and Ethan. They shared the same property. Will had met Skyler on a few occasions. The guy seemed to always be in a good mood and had a mouth on him that would make a sailor blush.

“Hey, Sky, what’s going on?” Holden stood up to hug the man.

“The kids were busting balls about wanting to go swimming.” Skyler rolled his eyes as if it put him out, but everyone knew he’d do anything for his son. Skyler plopped down in the chair Holden had vacated and did a double take as if he just noticed Ian and Will sitting there. “So you must be the big brother Ms. Kelsey keeps gushing about.” Skyler reached out his hand and Ian shook it. “Oh and, Will, always a pleasure.”

“Skyler, nice to see you as well.” Will waved at him.

“I heard about the attack.” Skyler pointed to his bandage-covered arm. “He sure got you good.”

“I’ll live,” Will said, and watched as Ian turned away. Will hated that his lover felt guilty about the attack. He’d explained to Ian that there was nothing he could have done to prevent it. Shit happened whether they liked it or not. But Ian said that since Will was his mate he should have been watching over him. Will gently pointed out that if he was watching him then who would have been watching over Kelsey? That quieted Ian up.

Will lifted his hand to rest on Ian’s neck and massaged the knotted muscles. Ian leaned into his touch and reached over to rest his warm hand on Will’s thigh.

“Ah, how sweet is that?” Skyler clapped his hands together. “Kelsey told me that you two were mates but that you hadn’t manned up to tell Will yet.” Skyler gave Ian a pointed look. His eyes roamed over Ian’s face and Will felt Ian fidget in his chair. “Damn but you are young. Will, it looks like you’re robbing the cradle with this one.”

Holden sputtered water all over the counter as he choked on his laugher. Ethan nudged Skyler in the arm.

“What?” Skyler asked looking all innocent. “All I’m saying is he looks like a baby.”

“I’m eighteen.” Ian’s face had gone bright red. “I’ll be nineteen in two months, so there’s nothing illegal about us being together.”

“Oh, baby, I wasn’t implying that at all.” Skyler patted Ian’s hand. “I’m just fucking with the good doctor here. He’s a little up tight at times and he needs a good kick in the ass to dislodge that crowbar he’s got stuck in there.” Skyler winked at Will.

“Just because I wouldn’t write you a prescription for Viagra doesn’t mean I’m a stick in the mud. It would have been unethical.”

“Viagra?” Holden asked. “You’re a shifter, Sky, it wouldn’t have worked on you.”

“Yeah, I know!” Skyler rolled his eyes. “But it would have on Noah.
