After the show, Braden accepted Brady’s offer to join them for dinner at Marianne’s. He wasn’t sure that was a good idea. For all his bravado, he was still afraid he was making a mistake coming out now. He could put the genie back in the bottle, but it would only be harder for all of Claire’s hard work to come to fruition if he backed down now.

“Gentlemen.” Marianne gave them all a cool stare when she came over to their table. “Dinner is on the house. Enjoy yourselves. Just keep your public displays of affection to a minimum.”

“Thank you, Elder Matron,” Braden said in a tone as cool as hers.

She gave them a nod. “Jessup.”

Jesse gave her a polite nod, and she left without acknowledging the other two men.

“That is one pissed-off woman,” Brady said with a shake of his head.

“She’ll hate me till the day I die or get over it,” Braden said and picked up the glass of wine he’d ordered.

“Maybe you’ll take me for a spin around the dance floor later,” Taylor said with a mischievous grin, and Braden laughed. “I dare you.”

“I dare you two to really live openly,” Jesse said with a rueful smile. “That will be the real challenge.”
