Chapter 10
Nalani looked out of the corner of her eye and saw that Cari was leaning forward on her knees with her hands clasped. They had been sitting side by side for at least ten minutes but neither of them spoke. Nalani would have been content with going back to the dining room to clean up when Free said she wanted to play a hand of cards but she knew that Delaney would have been upset if she did so. It didn’t matter that Nalani was somewhat annoyed with her cousin for leaving her alone with people that she’d just met. Especially when she knew how awkward Nalani could be in casual social situations.
“What kind of perfume are you wearing?”
Cari asked.
Nalani jumped a bit but recovered quickly, “Tonight I’m not wearing anything.”
“Nothing? Are you sure?”
Nalani let out a giggle, “I think I would remember if I put on perfume or not.”
Cari shook her head in agreement.
“

Cari sat up and rested her back comfortably against the back of the couch and looked over to Nalani, “I have been trying to pin point it for the past hour and now that you are sitting next to me I think I have an idea what it is. I smell a strong scent of roses. Like a dozen were just delivered in here or something. I smelled it when I walked upstairs with Eric during your arrival and it is filling my nose as you sit next to me. That is why I thought you were wearing a perfume with roses as the base.”
Roses ? Did Cari say that she’d been smelling roses? Yes that is what she’d just said. Roses were what she’d smelled when she was in the elevator that day. She felt her throat begin to tighten; she needed to get some air.
“Nalani are you okay. Did I say something wrong?” Cari said the concern in her voice touched Nalani.
“I am fine but I feel a little hot, maybe going upstairs for a few would help.”
“You want some company?” Cari asked.
Nalani turned her head and looked at the gold specks dancing around their green bed. Cari’s eyes were beautiful to distraction. Cari as a whole was something to take in savor and then devour, Nalani’s mouth began to salivate as she thought about what Cari’s arousal might taste like. What would it feel like to have the long fingers that were currently rubbing the bridge of a
